One-thousand US dollars available for one project per country from the CEE & FSU region or South Africa
The Open Society Institute’s International Palliative Care Initiative is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) open to existing hospice and palliative care organizations (inpatient or home based care) and/or existing national hospice and palliative care associations in Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union and South Africa to fund projects or activities which will support World Hospice and Palliative Care Day on October 8, 2005 (www.worldday.org).[Application form]
New Transition Plan for Rotary in Western Russia

Open World
Rotary International is continuing its relationship with the Open World Leadership Center at the US Library of Congress. For the fifth year Rotary clubs in the United States act will as hosts for Russian delegations. [Full story]

District 5010 Project
Rotary District 5010 invited Rotarians attending the Zone 22 Institute in September 2004 to visit the five Rotary clubs in Vladivostok and nearby Nahokda with a view to participating in a humanitarian projects in Far East Russia. [Full story]
Projects of the Rotary Club of Irkutsk
The club is involved in a number of community projects. Last year the club coordinated and supervised the distribution of 1.8 million dollars worth of medical supplies donated by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Their ongoing project is the support of a local orphanage for speech and hearing impaired children. Their most recent donation was $5,000 dollars worth of hearing aids. It also organizes local clean up projects and appears frequently in the local media. [Full story]
More Rotary Projects in Russia
The three oldest of the eastern clubs -- Irkutsk, Magadan and Vladivostok -- have designed 13 successful projects of which nine were supported by Rotary Foundation Matching Grants. Projects included secondary school computer classes in Magadan; a program for disabled children, hospital equipment and hot meals for senior citizens in Irkutsk; and a youth baseball league in Vladivostok.
